The Scene
This daily festival occurs two hours before sunset until two hours after sunset. Vendors hawking hand-painted T-shirts, elegant oil candles and other items descend upon the pier to set up endless rows of tables. The single rule governing all vendors is that their wares must be handmade, which ensures, at the very least, a unique quality. Come during October and experience Clearwater's Jazz Holiday, which is a free four-day event held at Clearwater's Coachman Park with 90,000 spectators. Relax in the park while listening to great rhythmic music. Another great event to see while in Clearwater Beach, and you'll have more than one opportunity to see this is "Sunsets at Pier 60," which is a festival that runs every Thursday to Monday evenings. Not only will you be watching spectacular sunsets, but you'll be entertained by magicians, jugglers, tight rope walkers, musicians, artists, and crafters.
Not only does Clearwater Beach have a lot of great activities, but it's also within minutes to other great locations such as St. Petersburg's museums, Tampa's Busch Gardens Theme Park and sporting arenas, and a three-mile walk or ferry away from Caladesi Island State Park, which is ranked fifth in the entire U.S. according to Dr. Beach in 2003 for its ideal atmosphere for swimming, snorkeling, scuba diving, shelling, fishing, and nature study, and a 90-minute drive East for all the amusement in Orlando.
